Our Story
JMR COSTUME DESIGNS was originally founded in 2010 by award winning costume designer,Jose M. Rivera. He was involved with the original Broadway run of A CHORUS LINE as a performer in the late 1970s. After receiving his degree in costume design and with his knowledge and expertise of A CHORUS LINE, he was hired to costume new productions worldwide. He learned from the best, original costume designer, Theoni V Aldridge and one of the top costume manufacturers in the business, Barbara Matera. He kept his standards as high as Theoni's and Barbara's, always adjusting the original designs and colors of the line wear to each individual dancer's body, with never losing sight of the original. One of his assistants, who was also his best friend, was always trying to convince Jose to invest in a set of costumes from the original show if they ever became available. The 2006 revival and subsequent tours had recently closed and as fate would have it, he received a phone call from someone who was looking to sell off a complete set of the Broadway costumes. And the rest is history! Our customers have included: Main Street Theater Company, Pensacola Little Theatre, North Carolina Theatre,Paper Mill Playhouse,The Gateway Playhouse,Titusville Playhouse, Moonlight Theatre, 3D Productions, Peoria Players, North Shore Music Theatre and The Cape Playhouse. We will do our best to try to fit your budget needs. We’re driven by our dedication to provide not only a top product, but the best customer service in the industry.We only rent the costumes as a complete package. We don't rent out just the finales or individual pieces. By doing so, we've learned,we can offer a great price for "the complete"costume package.
